
Shakiso, Ethiopia – An assessment team from the Ethiopian Quality Award (EQA) conducted a comprehensive assessment of MIDROC Gold Mine PLC as part of the company’s pursuit of organizational excellence and continuous improvement.
The assessment team was led by Mr. Tewodros Mebrat, Chief Executive Officer of the Ethiopian Quality Award, and was warmly welcomed by the General Manager and members of the MIDROC Gold Mine management team at the company’s Shakiso Office.
During the assessment, the team reviewed key aspects of the company’s organizational performance and management systems. The assessment covered areas including leadership and governance, strategic planning, human resource management, occupational health and safety, workplace sanitation and hygiene, environmental management, operational standards, process management, quality management, innovation, performance measurement, stakeholder relations, and continuous improvement.
As part of the assessment process, the EQA team conducted question-and-answer sessions with members of MIDROC Gold Mine’s management. The sessions focused on the company’s performance, management systems, achievements, challenges, organizational practices, and improvement initiatives.
The assessment also included physical visits to various operational and working areas of the company. The team visited the open-pit mining operation, underground mining operations, and the Metallurgy Department, among other areas, to observe and verify the practical implementation of organizational standards, operational procedures, safety practices, workplace conditions, sanitation and hygiene, and other relevant performance areas.
The EQA assessment provides an opportunity for MIDROC Gold Mine to evaluate its organizational performance against recognized standards, identify areas for further improvement, and strengthen its commitment to quality, operational excellence, and sustainable organizational development.
